Let's browse the yahoo page. Move your mouse pointer over Autos and the pointer will change to a hand with a pointing index finger. Move it around some more and watch it change to an I-beam when it's over text and a hand when it's over a link. All web pages work this way.
What is a Link? A link is a place on one web page that, when clicked, goes to another web page. When you move your mouse over any web page, it changes to a hand with pointing finger icon, when it is over a link. The link has some text or a picture that indicates what the subject is. If the subject is one you are interested in, you click it and check it out. |
That's what is called browsing.
Move the pointer over Autos again and click once when you see the hand. It will take you to another web page that shows you various links to web pages that deal with automobiles. Now I assume you are looking at a web page that deals with automobiles. So, click the backspace key on your keyboard and you will be returned to the yahoo page we started on. Going back to the previous web page can also be accomplished by clicking the back arrow on the left end of the browser frame. Look at the above yahoo page and you'll see the back arrow at the left end of the browser frame. There is also a forward arrow that becomes available when you have several web pages open. Therefore, you can go back or forward, depending on what page you are looking at. |
