Send/Recv
The Send/Recv option (Recv is short for Receive) is clicked whenever you want to immediately send messages or have Outlook Express check for incoming messages. Outlook Express can be configured to accumulate messages that you prepare in the Outbox. These messages are kept in the Outbox until you get on the internet and click the Send/Recv option. You must be connected to the internet for the Send/Recv option to work. Outlook Express is configured by Microsoft to check for new mail and send all messages immediately after you click the send button. | For most people this is satisfactory and they never change it.
I want you to know how to configure Outlook Express so that it only checks for or send messages when you click the Send/Recv option. The reason I want you to know how to do this is because you may want to take your time preparing messages and do so while you're not connected to the internet.
