Notice the window manipulation buttons ( the " _ ", the boxes, and the "X" in the upper right
corner?
Now is your chance to try them.
When you have Notepad open, just click on the " _ " and see what happens. It went down on to the task bar. You see it there with the title Untitled Not.. Now to get it back, left click over its name on the task bar. It’s back! | |
|
Now left click the single box (between the " _ " and the " X " and watch it expand to fill the entire screen. Now click the twin boxes (that used to be a single box) and it will shrink back down to where it was originally. Now left click the " X " and it will close completely. Get it? You will. The basic tools you have just learned are how to:
1. Open a windows program (Notepad In this case) Now open Notepad again, beginning from the Start button. Use my previous instructions to guide you if you need help. |
With the Notepad window open, place your pointer over the blue bar at the very top of the window: Then hold down the left button on your mouse. While holding the button down, move the mouse. The window moves with your mouse movements in any direction. Now release the button and the window stays where it is. THIS IS CALLED DRAGGING. Anytime you want to drag a window, a picture or whatever, you simply place the pointer over the object to be dragged, hold down the left button and drag. Now move your pointer over the resize ( see above picture) corner of the Notepad window. You will see the pointer change to a diagonal double headed arrow. Now hold down the left button on your mouse and drag to the left, then right, then up and then down. Then release the button. The window resizes itself with your drag. This is called resizing a window.
