The enter key is also used to enter data into forms and spread sheets. There are two styles of enter keys.
Back Space This key, is located directly above the "Enter" key with an arrow pointing to the left. (on some keyboards, this key is labeled Backspace).
Backspace is used to delete the character on the left side of the typing cursor. It is also used to move back one page when you are on the internet. More on that later. Insert, Home, Page Up , Page Down, End, and Delete keys.
The Insert key is toggled (on or off). The insert key, when on, allows you to insert characters between two adjacent Characters. When it's off you overstrike characters as you type. |
The Home key when tapped, takes the typing cursor to the beginning of the line you are currently on. If you hold down the "Ctrl" key while tapping the "Home" key, the cursor will go to the very beginning of the document you are working on. Regarding cursors: Whenever you type on a PC keyboard, you will see a small vertical blinking line. This blinking line is called the typing cursor . There is a similar cursor called the mouse pointer which looks like a left-slanted arrow. It indicates where your mouse or track ball is pointing. Beginners tend to confuse the two. They are entirely different. The End key does the opposite of the "Home" key. It takes the cursor to the end of the line you are working on. If used with the "Ctrl" key held down, it takes the cursor to the end of the document you are working on. The Page Up and Page Down keys do what their names imply except they do it in increments of a "screen full", not necessarily a full document page at a time. Your computer's ability to display is of course limited to it's size. When your monitor can't display all of the information being sent to it, you use the Page Down key to scroll the screen down so you can see everything. Similarly, You can use the Page Up key to scroll up to see the previous screen. The Delete key deletes characters to the right of the typing cursor. So, remember, the Backspace key deletes to the left and the Delete key deletes to the right.
