About PC Files (2)

When you search for a file on your PC, the computer displays the path of every file it finds that meets your search criteria.

For example, let's search for all the files that start with the characters "my".

Click the Start button on your desktop. Then move over the word find or search (whichever is used on your PC). Then move to Files or Folders and click once. You'll see the search/find dialog box which looks like the following:

Next type my* into the slot "Named" (first slot) and click the "Find Now" button.

You'll see something like the following:

Notice that everything the PC found starts with the characters "my" and are displayed in the left column. It found one folder (indicated by the folder icon) and four files. The folder is named "My Documents" and the files are the other items that start with the characters "my...".

Notice the path definitions in the column to the right.

The folder "My Documents" is a folder located in the C:Drive and is not inside any other folder.

Reading backwards, the file MySoftware is located in the folder named Programs which is a subfolder of the folder Start Menu, which is a subfolder of the folder Windows,on the C:\ drive. This may seem difficult at first but with experience, you'll get the hang of it.
