Placing a Lookup Control on a Form

The first step in placing a new control on a form is to open the form in design mode. In fact any time you want to change the design of an object, you must first put the object in design mode.

1. Open the Database as follows:

Start \ Programs \ Microsoft Access \ Open an existing file \ AddressDB \ OK

2. Open the AddressEntryForm in design mode as follows: click the Forms option (left side), and then click the Design option at the top of the window.

Since screen details are dependent on what you did last, the picture above may not be what you see on your screen. Therefore, if you don’t see the Form properties dialog box on the right, that’s OK. If it is there, click its " X", in the upper right corner to close it because it’s in the way of our next step.

Also, you may not see the Toolbox menu on the left of the above picture. If you don't see it, click the hammer and wrench icon in the next picture to open it. Or, if you prefer, you can select the toobox menu from the main menu at the top of your present screen by clicking View, then clicking Toolbox.
